Depression is emotional suffering with various levels of intensity.
As the end result of healing from depression, one experiences:
* A sense of wholeness,
* Being connected to the self and others,
* Experiencing vitality,
* Having a sense of internal balance emotionally and physically,
* Believing in oneself and
* Daring to actualize oneself and one's talents and abilities.
Depression can be overcome by having a full understanding of one's past and present experiences and how those experiences affect one's feelings and perceptions. In other words, one develops a full understanding of one's roots. One overcomes depression by understanding how the immediate systems contribute to the depression.
In the process of understanding the old negative perceptions that led to the depression, new perceptions and feelings emerge.
In the process, there is an opportunity to express the various emotions in the most extensive way. Simultaneously, one has the opportunity to be in touch with the self emotionally and cognitively.
Depression is a condition that is treatable, yet takes a joint effort both from the therapist and patient.
